Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and name different colors, understand the concept of mixing colors, and create their own colorful artwork using just their imagination!

Materials and Prep

No additional materials are needed for this lesson. Just make sure the student is ready to explore colors and have fun!

Activities

  • Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house or outside. Ask the student to find objects of specific colors, like "Can you find something red?" This encourages observation and color recognition.

  • Mixing Colors: Use imaginary paint to mix colors. Ask the student what happens when you mix blue and yellow. Encourage them to think creatively about what new colors they can make!

  • Colorful Drawing: Have the student draw a picture using their favorite colors. Encourage them to tell a story about their picture and what each color means to them.

  • Color Songs: Sing a fun song about colors together. You can make up a silly song or use a simple tune to sing about different colors and what they like.

Talking Points

  • "What color is this? Can you say it out loud?"
  • "When we mix blue and yellow, what do we get? Can you guess?"
  • "Wow! Look at all the colors you used in your drawing! What does this color make you feel?"
  • "Let's sing a song about colors! Can you think of a color we can sing about?"
