Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of colors, be able to identify primary colors, and recognize how colors can mix to create new colors.
Materials and Prep
- No materials are required for this lesson, just your imagination and creativity!
- Make sure to have a comfortable space for activities.
- Be ready to have fun and encourage the student to express themselves!
Activities
-
Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house or yard. Ask the student to find objects of different colors. For example, "Can you find something red?" This helps them identify and name colors in their environment.
-
Color Mixing Game: Use imaginary colors! Ask the student what happens when you mix blue and yellow. Encourage them to use their imagination to describe the new color they create, like "green!"
-
Color Stories: Create a short story using colors. For example, "Once upon a time, there was a blue bird and a yellow sun." Let the student add their own colors and characters to the story!
Talking Points
- "What color is your favorite? Can you tell me why you like it?"
- "Look at this blue object! What happens if we mix blue with yellow? What color do we get?"
- "Can you find something outside that is green? What do you think makes it green?"
- "Let’s make a story! What color do you want our bird to be? What color is the sky?"
