Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and name different colors, understand basic color mixing, and express creativity through color-related activities.
Materials and Prep
- Colorful paper (red, blue, yellow, green, etc.)
- Crayons or markers in various colors
- Water (for mixing colors)
- A small container or cup for mixing
- A white paper for painting or drawing
Before starting the lesson, make sure to have a clear space for activities and be prepared to guide the student through color identification and mixing.
Activities
-
Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house or yard. Ask the student to find objects of specific colors and name them. For example, "Can you find something red?"
-
Color Mixing Fun: Use water and different colors of crayons or markers to show how colors can mix. For example, mix blue and yellow to make green. Let the student see and name the new colors created!
-
Creative Drawing: Give the student white paper and ask them to draw a picture using their favorite colors. Encourage them to use as many colors as they can and explain what they are drawing.
-
Color Songs: Sing simple songs about colors together, like "Red, Yellow, Green, Blue" to reinforce their learning in a fun way.
Talking Points
- "What color is this? Can you say it out loud?"
- "When we mix yellow and blue, what color do we get? Let's find out!"
- "Wow! Look at all the colors you used in your drawing! What do you like best?"
- "Can you sing the color song with me? Let's have fun with colors!"
