Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and recognize the concept of colors, identify different colors in their environment, and express their favorite colors through fun activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful paper or fabric scraps (red, blue, yellow, green, etc.)
  • Crayons or markers in various colors
  • White paper for drawing
  • Access to a window or outdoor area for color observation

Before the lesson, prepare the colorful paper or fabric scraps and ensure the student has a comfortable space to draw. Familiarize yourself with the names of colors to help guide the student.

Activities

  • Color Hunt:

Take the student on a color hunt around the house or outside. Ask them to find objects that match specific colors, like "Can you find something red?" This will help them connect colors to real-world objects.

  • Color Art:

Provide the student with colorful paper and crayons or markers. Encourage them to create a picture using their favorite colors. Ask them to tell you about their drawing and the colors they used.

  • Color Mixing:

Using two colors, show the student how to mix them together to create a new color. For example, mix red and yellow to make orange. Let them experiment with mixing colors and see what new colors they can create!

Talking Points

  • "Look at this color! What color is this? Can you find something else that is this color?"
  • "What is your favorite color? Why do you like it?"
  • "When we mix these two colors, what do you think will happen? Let's try it!"
  • "Great job finding all those colors! Colors are everywhere, even outside!"
