Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have a better understanding of basic shapes and colors. They will be able to identify and name different shapes and colors in their environment.
Materials and Prep
- Colorful paper (red, blue, yellow, green)
- Scissors (with adult supervision)
- Glue
- Markers or crayons
- Flat surface for activities
Before the lesson, ensure a safe space for cutting and gluing. Prepare the colorful paper by cutting it into various shapes like circles, squares, and triangles.
Activities
-
Shape Hunt:
Go on a shape hunt around the house or yard. Ask the student to find objects that are circles, squares, or triangles. They can point them out and say their colors!
-
Shape Collage:
Using the colorful shapes you prepared, let the student glue them onto a piece of paper to create a fun collage. Encourage them to tell you what shapes and colors they are using.
-
Coloring Time:
Let the student color in shapes using markers or crayons. You can provide them with a coloring page that has different shapes for them to decorate.
-
Shape Songs:
Sing a fun song about shapes and colors together. Make up silly lyrics that include the names of shapes and colors to make it more enjoyable!
