Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of colors and be able to identify and name at least five different colors in their environment.

Materials and Prep

  • No materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Make sure the environment is filled with colorful objects (toys, books, clothes, etc.).
  • Be ready to explore and have fun with colors!

Activities

  1. Color Hunt: Go around your home and find objects of different colors. When you find an object, say its color out loud together!

  2. Color Sorting Game: Choose a few colored objects and sort them into groups based on their color. Talk about each color as you sort.

  3. Color Dance Party: Play some fun music and dance around while calling out different colors. When a color is said, everyone finds something in that color to hold up!

  4. Color Story Time: Read a short story or make one up together that includes different colors. Point out the colors as you go along!

  • "What color is your shirt? Let's find something that matches!"
  • "Wow! You found a yellow toy! Yellow is so bright and happy!"
  • "Let’s dance! When I say 'blue', find something blue to wave!"
