Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of colors, be able to identify at least five different colors, and express their favorite color through fun activities.

Materials and Prep

  • No special materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Be prepared to have a variety of colorful objects around the house for the activities.
  • Make sure to have a comfortable space for the activities.

Activities

  • Color Hunt: Go around the house or yard and find objects of different colors. Ask the student to name the colors of the items they find.

  • Color Sorting: Gather a few objects of different colors and ask the student to sort them into groups based on their colors.

  • Color Art: Use crayons or markers to draw a picture using at least three different colors. Encourage the student to explain their artwork.

  • Color Dance: Play music and have the student dance around. When the music stops, call out a color, and they must find something of that color to hold.

Talking Points

  • "What color is this? Can you say it out loud?"
  • "Look at all the pretty colors! Which one is your favorite?"
  • "Let's count how many red things we can find! One, two, three..."
  • "When you draw, you can use any colors you want! What colors will you choose?"
