Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will learn about the concept of sleep, why it's important, and how it helps our bodies and minds grow.

Materials and Prep

  • No materials needed, just your imagination!
  • Be ready to talk about sleep and its importance in a fun way.
  • Prepare to engage in storytelling and movement activities.

Activities

  • Storytime: The Sleepy Bear - Tell a fun story about a bear who loves to sleep and how he wakes up feeling strong and happy. Ask the student questions about the story to keep them engaged.

  • Sleepy Stretching - Guide the student through some gentle stretches like a sleepy cat or a yawning dog. This will show them how stretching can feel good after waking up!

  • Dream Drawing - Ask the student to draw their favorite dream or what they want to be when they grow up. This will help them express their imagination and understand that sleep can lead to dreams.

  • Sleepy Songs - Sing a lullaby together or make up a silly song about sleep. This will make learning about sleep fun and memorable!

Talking Points

  • "Why do you think we need to sleep? It helps our bodies and minds rest and grow!"
  • "Can you tell me what happens when we sleep? We dream and our bodies get stronger!"
  • "What do you like to dream about? Dreams can be fun and colorful!"
  • "How does your body feel when you wake up after a good night's sleep? Are you happy and ready for the day?"
