Objective

By the end of this lesson, the Eighth grade-level homeschool student will be able to build a model car independently, demonstrating practical arts skills and creativity.

Materials and Prep

  • Model car kit
  • Model car instructions
  • Paints and brushes
  • Glue or adhesive
  • Model car decals (if included in the kit)
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Sandpaper for smoothing surfaces

Before starting the lesson, familiarize yourself with the model car kit instructions and make sure you have all the necessary materials ready.

Activities

  1. Read the model car kit instructions carefully, understanding each step and the order in which they need to be completed.
  2. Assemble the model car following the instructions, using glue or adhesive to secure the parts together.
  3. If the kit includes decals, carefully apply them to the model car following the provided guidelines.
  4. Once the model car is assembled and decorated, use paints and brushes to add color and details to the car.
  5. Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on to any additional steps.
  6. If desired, use sandpaper to smooth any rough edges or surfaces on the model car.
  7. Display the finished model car proudly!
