Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore and express their understanding of the concept of emotions through fun activities and discussions, helping them recognize and articulate their feelings.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- Small mirror
- Emotion cards (you can draw simple faces representing different emotions)
Before the lesson, prepare the emotion cards by drawing simple faces showing happiness, sadness, anger, and surprise. Make sure to have a quiet space for activities and discussions.
Activities
-
Emotion Drawing:
The student will draw faces showing different emotions using crayons or markers. Encourage them to think about what makes them feel happy, sad, or surprised.
-
Mirror Time:
Using a small mirror, the student will make different facial expressions based on the emotion cards. They can look in the mirror to see how their face changes with each feeling.
-
Emotion Charades:
The student will pick an emotion card and act it out without using words, while you guess the emotion. This will help them understand and express feelings in a fun way.
-
Feelings Storytime:
Read a short story that includes different emotions. After reading, discuss how the characters might feel and why, helping the student connect to the story.

- "Let's play charades! Can you act like you are surprised? What surprises you?"
- "In this story, the character feels angry. Can you tell me what makes you feel angry?"
