Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basic concept of numbers and counting up to 10 through engaging activities and games.

Materials and Prep

No special materials are needed for this lesson. Just make sure you have a quiet space to work, and be ready to have fun counting together!

Activities

  • Counting with Fingers: Start by showing the student how to count using their fingers. Hold up one finger and say, "This is one!" Then continue up to ten. Encourage the student to do the same.

  • Jumping Counts: Have the student jump in place while counting each jump. Say, "Let's jump and count! One, two, three..." This adds a physical activity element to counting!

  • Number Songs: Sing simple counting songs together, like "Five Little Ducks" or "Ten in the Bed." Music makes learning numbers fun!

  • Counting Objects: Use everyday objects like toys or snacks. Ask the student to count how many they have. For example, "How many blocks do we have? Let’s count them together!"
