Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of how computers keep track of different users, just like how we remember our friends' names and what they like to do!

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Small boxes or containers (to represent users)
  • Stickers (optional, for fun decoration)

Before starting the lesson, it's helpful to explain that just like we have names and things we like, computers have names for their users too!

Activities

  • User Name Drawing: The student can draw a picture of themselves and write their name on it. This will represent them as a "user" on a computer.

  • Friend Boxes: Using small boxes or containers, the student can create a "user box" for each family member or friend. They can decorate each box with their names and favorite colors.

  • Sticker Fun: Have the student choose stickers to put on their user boxes. Each sticker can represent something their friends like, similar to how computers remember what users like!

Talking Points

  • "Just like you have a name, computers have names for their users too!"
  • "When you draw your picture, you're showing how you are a special user on a computer!"
  • "Each box is like a little home for your friends on the computer. What do you think they like?"
  • "Stickers make everything more fun, just like how computers remember what we like to make us happy!"
