Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the concept of numbers and counting through fun activities and engaging play. They will recognize numbers from 1 to 10 and be able to count objects accurately.
Materials and Prep
- Ten small objects (like blocks, toys, or buttons)
- Paper and crayons
- A timer (optional, for fun activities)
- A comfortable space to sit and play
Before the lesson, gather all materials in a quiet area where the student can focus and play without distractions.
Activities
-
Counting Objects:
Place the ten small objects in front of the student. Ask them to count each object one by one. Encourage them to touch each object as they count.
-
Number Drawing:
Provide the student with paper and crayons. Ask them to draw numbers from 1 to 10. You can help by showing them how to make each number.
-
Number Hunt:
Hide some objects around the room and ask the student to find them. Each time they find an object, they should count it out loud!
-
Sing Counting Songs:
Sing fun counting songs together, like "Five Little Ducks" or "Ten in the Bed." This makes counting fun and memorable.

- "Can you count these blocks with me? Let's say each number together!"
- "Look at this number! Can you draw it? What does it look like?"
- "How many objects did you find? Let's count them together!"
- "Singing helps us remember numbers! Let's sing a counting song!"
