Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of a "file" and how we can keep different types of information organized, just like a treasure chest holds special items!
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- Small boxes or containers (to represent folders)
- Fun stickers (to decorate the boxes)
- A list of fun things to draw or write (like animals, toys, or favorite foods)
Before the lesson, prepare the boxes or containers and gather the materials. Make sure to have a comfy space to work together!
Activities
-
Treasure Box Creation:
Let’s make our own treasure boxes! Use the small boxes to represent folders. Decorate them with stickers and crayons to make them special.
-
Drawing Fun:
Draw pictures of your favorite things and put them in the treasure boxes. Each box can hold a different type of picture, just like a file holds different information!
-
Story Time:
Tell a fun story about a treasure hunt where you find different treasures (pictures) in your boxes. This will help us remember how we keep things organized!
Talking Points
- "What do you think a file is? It’s like a treasure chest for information!"
- "When we put our drawings in boxes, we are keeping them safe and organized, just like how we keep our toys in a toy box!"
- "Isn’t it fun to have different boxes for different things? What would you put in your special box?"
- "Just like a treasure hunt, we can find what we need when everything is in its own special place!"
