Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of a "home" and "friends" in a fun and imaginative way, helping them to learn about their own home and the people they love.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- A small toy or picture of a house
- A small toy or picture of friends (like dolls or action figures)
Before starting, make sure you have a quiet space to work and all the materials ready. It's also helpful to think about what makes your home special and who your friends are!
Activities
-
Draw Your Home
Have the student draw a picture of their home. Encourage them to include details like windows, doors, and their favorite spots in the house.
-
Friendship Puppets
Using the toys or pictures of friends, create little puppet shows. The student can act out fun scenarios with their friends, like playing at the park or having a tea party.
-
Story Time
Read a short story about friendship and homes. After reading, ask the student what they liked best about the story and who their favorite character is.
-
Home and Friends Song
Make up a simple song about their home and friends. It can be silly and fun, and they can sing it together!
Talking Points
- "What do you love most about our home? Is it the cozy couch or the yummy kitchen?"
- "Can you tell me who your best friend is? What do you like to do together?"
- "Why do you think friends are important? They make us happy, right?"
- "Let’s think about what makes a house a home. Is it the people, the love, or something else?"
