Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of a "home" and "friends" in a fun and engaging way, using imaginative play to explore these ideas.
Materials and Prep
- A cozy blanket to create a "home" area.
- Stuffed animals or dolls to represent "friends."
- Crayons and paper for drawing.
- A timer for timed activities (optional).
Before the lesson, make sure to have a comfortable space ready for the activities. Gather all materials and ensure the student understands that we're going to have fun imagining a home and friends!
Activities
-
Build a Cozy Home: Use the blanket to create a small area that represents a home. Encourage the student to arrange their stuffed animals or dolls inside to show who lives there.
-
Draw Your Friends: Give the student crayons and paper to draw pictures of their friends or family members. Ask them to explain who each person is and what they like to do together.
-
Home Story Time: Gather the stuffed animals and have a story time where each one tells a little story about their home and their favorite things to do there. Encourage the student to come up with fun ideas!
Talking Points
- "What do you think makes a home cozy? Is it the people or the things?"
- "Can you tell me about your friends? What do you like to do with them?"
- "What would your perfect home look like? Let's draw it together!"
- "Why do you think friends are important? How do they make us feel happy?"
