Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore the theme of Bigfoot through visual arts and develop an appreciation for the subject.

Materials and Prep

  • Optional: Access to a computer for research

Before starting the lesson, familiarize yourself with the concept of Bigfoot and gather relevant reference materials to share with the student.

Activities

  1. Introduction to Bigfoot (10 minutes)
    Show the student pictures and discuss the legend of Bigfoot. Ask them what they know or have heard about Bigfoot, and encourage them to share any interesting stories or facts they may have come across.
  2. Research and Inspiration (15 minutes)
    Guide the student in conducting research on Bigfoot. Use books or online resources to find images, stories, or descriptions of Bigfoot. Discuss the various interpretations and representations of Bigfoot in popular culture, art, and media.
  3. Artistic Interpretation (30 minutes)
    Instruct the student to choose a specific aspect or scene related to Bigfoot that they find interesting. Ask them to create a detailed drawing that captures their interpretation of that aspect. Encourage them to use colors and shading techniques to bring their drawing to life.
  4. Presentation and Discussion (15 minutes)
    Have the student present their artwork and explain the thought process behind their artistic choices. Engage in a discussion about the symbolism, emotions, or themes conveyed through their artwork.
