Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and express their feelings using simple words and actions. They will learn how to recognize different emotions and understand that it's okay to feel a variety of ways.

Materials and Prep

  • No materials needed, just your imagination and feelings!
  • Be prepared to share your own feelings and examples to help guide the student.

Activities

  • Feelings Charades: Take turns acting out different emotions without using words. The student will guess what emotion is being portrayed. This helps them understand how feelings can be shown through actions.

  • Emotion Faces: Make silly faces to represent different emotions like happy, sad, angry, and surprised. Ask the student to mimic the faces and talk about when they might feel that way.

  • Feelings Storytime: Create a short story together about a character who feels different emotions throughout their day. This will encourage the student to think about their own feelings and relate to the character.

Talking Points

  • "Can you show me your happiest face? What makes you feel happy?"
  • "What does a sad face look like? Can you tell me about a time you felt sad?"
  • "Sometimes we feel angry. How does your body feel when you're angry?"
  • "It's okay to feel different things! What do you think makes us feel different emotions?"
