Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have a basic understanding of what a domain name is and how it relates to websites. They will learn to recognize the importance of names in finding things on the internet, just like how we use names to call our friends!
Materials and Prep
- Paper and crayons
- Colorful stickers
- A printed picture of a computer
- A printed picture of a house
- Space for movement (like a living room or backyard)
Before the lesson, make sure to explain that we will be learning about how we find websites, similar to how we find our friends or houses!
Activities
-
Drawing Names:
Have the student draw a picture of their favorite website and write its name underneath. This helps them connect names to images, just like how they recognize their friends by their names!
-
Sticker Game:
Use colorful stickers to represent different websites. Place them on a chart and ask the student to name each sticker. This teaches them that each sticker (website) has a special name!
-
Find the House:
Using the picture of a house, pretend it’s a website. Ask the student to “find” the house by calling out its name. This activity shows how names help us find things in real life and online!
-
Computer Dance:
Play a fun game where the student pretends to be a computer. When you say a website name, they have to dance to it! This helps them remember that computers help us find websites.

- "Just like how you found your house by its name, we can find websites by their names!"
- "When you draw your favorite website, it helps you remember its name!"
