Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basic concepts of names and how they help us find things, just like how we use names to call our friends!

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Stickers (optional)
  • Space for drawing and playing

Before the lesson, make sure you have a quiet area where the student can focus on the activities and have fun with their drawings!

Activities

  • Name Game: Start by playing a name game where the student can say their name and the names of their family members. You can use a fun song to help them remember names!

  • Draw Your Friends: Have the student draw pictures of their friends or family. Encourage them to label each drawing with the name of the person they drew!

  • Sticker Hunt: Hide stickers around the room and give clues using names. For example, "Where is the star sticker? It’s near the name of your favorite toy!"

Talking Points

  • "Do you know what a name is? It's what we call someone or something!"
  • "When we have names, it helps us find our friends! Just like how you find your toys by their names!"
  • "If I say 'Teddy,' what do you think of? Yes! Your teddy bear! That’s how names help us remember things!"
  • "Can you think of a name for your drawing? That’s a great way to make it special!"
