Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a fun understanding of how to express ideas using sounds and words, and will enjoy playing with language in a creative way!

Materials and Prep

  • No special materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Be ready to have fun with sounds and words!

Activities

  • Sound Echo Game: Start by making a sound, like clapping your hands or saying a silly word. Ask the student to repeat the sound after you. This is a fun way to practice listening and repeating!

  • Word Play: Choose a simple word, like "cat" or "dog." Say the word and then ask the student to come up with a funny word that rhymes with it, like "hat" or "log." This helps with creativity and language skills!

  • Story Time Echo: Read a short story together. After each sentence, pause and ask the student to repeat what you just said. This reinforces listening and memory skills while having fun with stories!

Talking Points

  • "Can you make a sound like a lion? Now, let's echo it together!"
  • "What rhymes with 'cat'? Let's think of some funny words!"
  • "After I say a sentence, can you say it back to me? Let's be great listeners!"
  • "Isn't it fun to play with sounds? What sound do you want to make next?"
