Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of web structure and how web pages are organized, using the example of a special file called "web.xml".

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Stickers
  • Glue
  • Scissors (with adult supervision)
  • A big piece of cardboard or poster board

Before the lesson, make sure to explain what a website is and that it is like a book with many pages. Also, prepare a fun area for crafting!

Activities

  • Web Page Crafting: Let the student create their own web page using colorful paper. They can draw pictures, write their name, and add stickers to make it fun!

  • Group the Pages: Use the big piece of cardboard to represent a website. Help the student glue their web page on it and explain that this is how web pages are grouped together in a website.

  • Story Time: Tell a simple story about a character who visits different web pages. Use props or drawings to make it engaging and fun!

Talking Points

  • "A website is like a book with many pages, and each page can have fun pictures and words!"
  • "The 'web.xml' file is like the table of contents in a book. It tells us where to find things!"
  • "When we make a web page, we can add colors, drawings, and stickers just like you did today!"
  • "Every time we visit a website, we are exploring new pages, just like going on an adventure!"
