Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the basics of colors and shapes through fun activities, enhancing their creativity and cognitive skills.
Materials and Prep
- Colorful paper or cardboard
- Markers or crayons
- Scissors (for adult use)
- Glue or tape
- Shape templates (circle, square, triangle, etc.)
Before starting the lesson, make sure the area is safe for cutting and gluing. Prepare the shape templates and have the colorful paper ready for the activities.
Activities
-
Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house or yard. Ask the student to find objects of different colors and name them. This will help them recognize colors in their environment!
-
Shape Collage: Using the colorful paper, have the student cut out different shapes using the templates. They can then glue the shapes onto a larger piece of paper to create a fun collage!
-
Drawing with Shapes: Encourage the student to draw pictures using only shapes. For example, they can create a house with a square for the body and a triangle for the roof. This promotes creativity and shape recognition!
Talking Points
- "Look at that red apple! What color is it?"
- "Can you find something blue in the room? Great job!"
- "What shape is this? Is it a circle or a square?"
- "Let’s count how many triangles we have in our collage!"
