- Be prepared to engage the student with enthusiasm and encouragement.
- Have a space ready for activities where the student can explore and create freely.
Activities
-
Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house or outside. Ask the student to find objects of different colors and name them as they go. For example, "Can you find something red?"
-
Color Mixing Fun: Use imaginary colors to mix and create new ones. For example, pretend to mix blue and yellow to make green. Ask the student what other colors they can make!
-
Colorful Drawing: Have the student draw a picture using their favorite colors. Encourage them to tell a story about their picture and the colors they chose.
-
Color Songs: Sing songs about colors together. Use simple tunes and incorporate colors into the lyrics. This can be a fun way to remember colors!
Talking Points
- "What color is this? Can you say it out loud?"
- "When we mix blue and yellow, what color do we get? That's right, green!"
- "Wow! I love the colors you chose for your drawing! Can you tell me why you picked those?"
- "Let's sing a song about colors! Can you help me think of a color to sing about?"
