Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about how names and addresses work on the internet, just like how we have names for our friends and houses!

Materials and Prep

  • None! We will just use our imagination and talk!

Before we start, think about your name and what it means to you. This will help us understand names on the internet!

Activities

  • Name Game:

We will play a game where you will say your name and I will say a fun name for a pretend animal! This will help us understand how names work.

  • Address Adventure:

Imagine your house is a special place. We will pretend to send a letter to your house and talk about how we find it, just like how computers find websites!

  • Story Time:

I will tell you a story about a little computer that wants to find its friend. We will see how it uses names and addresses to find them!

Talking Points

  • "Just like you have a name, websites have names too! Can you say your name?"
  • "When we want to find a friend, we need to know where they live, right? Websites need addresses too!"
  • "If I say 'Bobby the Bear', that’s a name! What if I say 'Bobby's Cave'? That’s an address! Isn’t that fun?"
  • "Computers are like little detectives! They use names and addresses to find things on the internet. Can you pretend to be a detective with me?"
