By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create different shapes and objects using playdough.
Materials and Prep
- Playdough (in different colors)
- Playdough tools (optional)
- Playdough mats (optional)
- A clean surface to work on
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a clean and safe area to play with the playdough. Also, ensure that the playdough is soft and pliable.
Activities
- Create different shapes: Show the student how to roll the playdough into balls, flatten it to make circles, and use cookie cutters to create different shapes.
- Make animals: Encourage the student to use their imagination and create animals using the playdough. They can make snakes, birds, cats, or any other animal they like.
- Build a playdough town: Help the student create buildings, houses, and roads using the playdough. They can also make trees, cars, and other objects to populate their town.
- Create a playdough pizza: Teach the student how to roll out the playdough to make a pizza crust. Then, let them add toppings by rolling small balls of playdough in different colors.
- Play a guessing game: Take turns with the student to create an object using playdough. The other person has to guess what it is. This game will help improve creativity and communication skills.
