Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and name different colors, understand color mixing, and express creativity through colorful art activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful crayons or markers
  • White paper
  • Water and a container for mixing
  • Food coloring or paint (optional)
  • A small brush or sponge (optional)

Before the lesson, make sure to have a clean workspace ready and gather all materials. Familiarize yourself with basic color names and mixing concepts.

Activities

  • Color Hunt:

Take a walk around the house or yard to find objects of different colors. Ask the student to point out and name the colors they see.

  • Color Mixing Fun:

Using water and food coloring or paint, show the student how to mix two colors together to make a new color. For example, mix red and blue to make purple!

  • Colorful Art Creation:

Let the student use crayons or markers to create a colorful picture. Encourage them to use as many colors as they can and to talk about their choices.

Talking Points

  • "What color is this? Can you find something else that is the same color?"
  • "When we mix red and blue, what color do we get? Let's find out!"
  • "Look at all the colors you are using! Which one is your favorite?"
  • "Can you tell me a story about your colorful picture? What is happening in it?"
