Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand basic counting skills and be able to count from 1 to 10 using fun and engaging activities.
Materials and Prep
- No materials are needed for this lesson.
- Be ready to engage in counting activities using your fingers, toys, or even your own body!
Activities
-
Finger Counting: Start by holding up your fingers and counting them one by one. Encourage the student to do the same with their own fingers.
-
Toy Count: Gather a few toys (like stuffed animals or blocks) and count them together. Ask the student to pick a toy and say how many there are.
-
Body Counting: Count body parts together! For instance, say, "Let's count how many fingers we have!" and then count each finger together.
-
Jumping Count: Have the student jump up and down while counting each jump. This combines movement with counting!
Talking Points
- "Can you show me how many fingers you have? Let's count them together!"
- "How many toys do you see here? Let's count them one by one!"
- "Let's count our toes! How many toes do you think we have?"
- "Jumping is fun! Let's count how many jumps you can do! Ready? One, two, three..."
