Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and name different colors in their environment, understand the concept of primary colors, and create a simple color wheel using their imagination.

Materials and Prep

No materials are required for this lesson. Before starting, make sure to have a colorful environment around you, such as toys, books, or art supplies that showcase various colors.

Activities

  • Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house or yard. Ask the student to find objects of different colors. For example, "Can you find something red?" This will help them recognize colors in their surroundings.

  • Color Mixing Game: Use imaginary colors and ask the student what happens when you mix two colors together. For example, "What do you think happens if we mix blue and yellow?" Encourage them to use their imagination to come up with new colors.

  • Create a Color Wheel: Encourage the student to visualize a color wheel using their favorite colors. Ask them to describe each color they choose, like "What does the color green remind you of?"

Talking Points

  • "Look at all the colors around us! Can you name some of them?"
  • "Did you know that red and yellow make orange? Let's pretend to mix them!"
  • "What is your favorite color? Why do you like it?"
  • "Colors can make us feel different things. What does blue make you think of?"
