Materials and Prep
- Color wheel (can be drawn on paper)
- Crayons or colored pencils in primary colors (red, blue, yellow)
- White paper for mixing colors
- Water and a small container (if using washable markers)
Before the lesson, ensure that the student is familiar with the primary colors and has a basic understanding of what colors are.
Activities
-
Color Wheel Creation:
The student will draw a color wheel using crayons or colored pencils. They will color in the primary colors and leave spaces for the secondary colors.
-
Color Mixing Experiment:
Using the primary colors, the student will mix two colors on white paper to see what new color they can create. Encourage them to label the new colors.
-
Color Hunt:
The student will go on a color hunt around the house or yard, finding objects that match the colors on their color wheel. They can take pictures or draw the items they find.
