Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of numbers and counting through fun activities, helping them to recognize numbers and improve their counting skills.
Materials and Prep
- None required
No prior knowledge is needed. Just a positive attitude and a readiness to have fun with numbers!
Activities
-
Counting with Fingers: The student will use their fingers to count from 1 to 10. They can wiggle each finger as they count aloud.
-
Number Dance: Play a fun song and encourage the student to dance, stopping the music randomly. When the music stops, call out a number and have them jump that many times!
-
Number Stories: Create a simple story that includes numbers, like "There were 3 little ducks swimming in a pond." Ask the student to repeat the numbers and act out the story.
-
Drawing Numbers: Ask the student to draw numbers in the air with their finger. Then, encourage them to draw numbers on a surface with their finger or pretend to write them on an imaginary board.
Talking Points
- "Look at your fingers! Can you show me 3 fingers? Great job!"
- "Let's dance! When I say the number 4, can you jump 4 times? Ready? Go!"
- "In our story, we have 5 little bunnies! Can you count to 5 with me? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5!"
- "Now, let's pretend to write the number 2 in the air. Can you feel it? It's like magic!"
