Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of numbers and how to identify and count them through fun and engaging activities.
Materials and Prep
- None required - all activities can be done with everyday items around the house.
- Prepare a space for activities, ensuring it is safe and free from distractions.
Activities
- Counting with Snacks:
Use small snacks like cereal or fruit pieces. Ask the student to count out a specific number of snacks, then eat them together!
- Number Treasure Hunt:
Hide numbers (you can use paper or just say them) around the room. Ask the student to find them and say the number out loud when they do!
- Jump and Count:
Have the student jump in place while counting each jump. This will help them associate movement with numbers!
- Story Time with Numbers:
Read a short story that includes numbers. Pause and ask questions about the numbers in the story.
