Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of sending and receiving messages, using fun examples and activities to engage their curiosity and imagination.

Materials and Prep

  • No materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Prepare to explain the concept of messages in a simple way.
  • Think of fun examples of how we send and receive messages in everyday life.

Activities

  • Message Relay Game:

Play a game where you and the student pass messages to each other using simple words or phrases. For example, whisper a message and see if they can repeat it correctly!

  • Draw a Message:

Have the student draw a picture that represents a message they want to send. They can explain what their drawing means, just like sending a message!

  • Story Time:

Read a short story where characters send messages to each other. After reading, discuss how the characters communicated.

  • Make a Message Bottle:

Pretend to send a message in a bottle. The student can write a short note on paper, roll it up, and put it in a bottle. Talk about where the message might go!

Talking Points

  • "Do you know what a message is? It's like a note we send to someone!"
  • "When we talk or write, we are sending messages to our friends and family!"
  • "What do you think happens when we send a message? Someone has to receive it!"
  • "Just like in our game, we can send messages in different ways, like whispering or drawing!"
