Materials and Prep

  • Colored paper (red, blue, yellow, green, etc.)
  • Crayons or markers in different colors
  • Small objects in various colors (toys, buttons, etc.)
  • Space to move around for activities

Make sure to have a comfortable area to sit and play, and gather all the colored materials before starting the lesson.

Activities

  • Color Hunt:

Go on a color hunt around the house! Ask the student to find objects that match each color you show them. For example, “Can you find something red?”

  • Color Mixing:

Using crayons or markers, show how to mix colors. For example, take blue and yellow and explain how they make green. Let the student try mixing colors too!

  • Color Art:

Have the student create a colorful masterpiece using the colored paper and crayons. Encourage them to use as many colors as they can!

  • “Look at this red paper! Can you find something red in the room?”
  • “When we mix yellow and blue, what color do we get? Let’s see together!”
  • “Wow, your art is so colorful! What colors did you use?”
  • “Colors are everywhere! What color is the sky today?”
