Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and name different colors, as well as understand how colors can mix to create new ones. The student will also explore their creativity through fun color-related activities!
Materials and Prep
- No materials are needed for this lesson, just your imagination and a fun attitude!
- Be ready to explore colors in different ways and encourage the student to express their thoughts about colors.
Activities
-
Color Hunt:
Go on a color hunt around the house or outside. Ask the student to find objects of different colors. For example, "Can you find something red?" This will help them identify and name colors in their environment.
-
Color Mixing Game:
Use imaginary colors to mix. Ask the student, "What happens if we mix blue and yellow?" Encourage them to think creatively about what new color they could create, like green!
-
Color Dance Party:
Play music and have a dance party where you call out colors. When you say a color, the student has to dance in a way that represents that color. For example, "Dance like a happy yellow sun!"
-
Color Story Time:
Tell a short story that involves different colors. For example, "Once upon a time, there was a blue bird who wanted to find a red flower." Ask the student to help you add colors to the story!
Talking Points
- "What color is your favorite? Why do you like it?"
- "Look at that object! What color is it? Can you find something else that is the same color?"
- "If we mix red and blue together, what do you think we will get? Let's pretend to mix them!"
- "When we dance, we can pretend to be different colors! How does a happy yellow dance?"
