Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe different colors and shapes found in their environment. They will learn to recognize colors and shapes through fun activities and discussions.

Materials and Prep

  • No specific materials needed; just the student and their surroundings!
  • Before the lesson, take a look around the house or yard to spot different colors and shapes.

Activities

  • Color Hunt: Go on a scavenger hunt around the house or yard to find items of different colors. Ask the student to point out an item and say its color aloud.

  • Shape Search: Look for objects that are different shapes (like circles, squares, and triangles). Ask the student to find one of each shape and describe it.

  • Color and Shape Drawing: Have the student draw their favorite color and shape. Encourage them to talk about why they like that color or shape.

  • Color and Shape Songs: Sing a fun song about colors and shapes together. Use simple melodies to make it engaging!

Talking Points

  • "What color is this? Can you find something else that is the same color?"
  • "Look at this shape! Is it a circle, square, or triangle? Can you find something like that in the room?"
  • "Why do you like this color? Does it remind you of something special?"
  • "Let’s sing a song about colors! Can you help me make up a fun tune?"
