Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and identify different colors in their surroundings and express their favorite colors through fun activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful objects (toys, clothes, or anything around the house)
  • Paper (any kind)
  • Crayons or markers (if available)
  • A space to explore and play

Before the lesson, make sure to gather colorful objects from around the house and clear a space for activities. It might be helpful to know the names of basic colors (red, blue, yellow, green, etc.).

Activities

  • Color Hunt: Go on a treasure hunt around the house to find objects of different colors. Ask the student to name each color they find and collect them in a basket.

  • Color Sorting: Use the collected objects and sort them by color. This can be done by placing them in different piles or sections on the floor.

  • Color Art: Using the paper and crayons/markers, encourage the student to draw their favorite color or create a colorful picture. Ask them to explain their drawing afterward.

  • Color Dance: Play music and have a dance party! When the music stops, call out a color, and the student has to find something of that color to hold while dancing.

Talking Points

  • "What color is this? Can you find something else that is the same color?"
  • "Let's sort these colors! Can you help me put all the red things together?"
  • "Look at your drawing! What colors did you use? Which one is your favorite?"
  • "When the music stops, can you show me something that is blue? Let's see how many things we can find!"
