Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have a basic understanding of Filipino Dula (plays) and will be able to create a short, original skit that reflects Filipino culture and values.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencil for writing scripts
- Space to perform the skit (indoor or outdoor)
- Optional: costumes or props from home (if available)
- Basic knowledge of Filipino culture and common themes in Dula
Activities

Introduction to Dula: Start by explaining what a Dula is and why it is important in Filipino culture. Discuss common themes, such as family, friendship, and values.

Character Creation: Have the student create two or three characters for their skit. Encourage them to think about what makes each character unique and how they relate to each other.

Writing the Script: Guide the student in writing a simple script for their skit. Remind them to include dialogue that shows the characters’ personalities and the main theme of the Dula.

Rehearsal: Allow the student to practice their skit. Encourage them to use different voices for different characters and to add gestures to make it more lively.

Performance Time: Have the student perform their skit for family members or even record it. Celebrate their effort and creativity!
