Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will have a basic understanding of ancient Egypt, including its culture, geography, and some famous landmarks. You will also create a fun project that showcases what you've learned!

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Colored pencils or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A large piece of cardboard or poster board (for the project)
  • A map of Egypt (can be drawn or printed)

Before the lesson, make sure you have a quiet and comfortable workspace. Familiarize yourself with some basic facts about Egypt, such as its location and some of its famous landmarks like the pyramids and the Nile River.

Activities

  • Map Creation: Draw or print a map of Egypt. Mark important places like the Nile River, the Pyramids of Giza, and Cairo. This will help you visualize where everything is located!
  • Pyramid Model: Using paper, create a 3D model of a pyramid. Cut out triangles and glue them together to form your pyramid. You can decorate it with hieroglyphics using colored pencils!
  • Hieroglyphic Writing: Learn about hieroglyphics and create your own name in hieroglyphs. Use your colored pencils to make it colorful and fun!
  • Ancient Egyptian Fashion Show: Dress up using items from around your house that represent ancient Egyptian clothing. Take turns modeling your outfits and explaining what they represent!
