Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize, write, and pronounce the letter "A," as well as identify words that start with the letter "A." The student will also engage in fun activities that reinforce their learning about the letter.

Materials and Prep

  • Access to the outdoors (if possible)

Before the lesson, make sure to have a comfortable space for the student to sit and draw. Familiarize yourself with some fun words that begin with "A" to share during the lesson.

Activities

  • Letter A Art:

    Have the student draw the letter "A" on a piece of paper. Encourage them to decorate it with crayons, using colors they like. They can also draw pictures of things that start with "A" around the letter.

  • Amazing A Hunt:

    Go outside or around the house to find objects that start with the letter "A." Ask the student to point them out and say their names. For example, "Look! An apple!"

  • Alphabet Song:

    Sing the alphabet song together, emphasizing the letter "A." You can make it fun by adding hand motions or dancing while singing!

  • A is for Action:

    Choose an action word that starts with "A," like "act" or "ask." Show the student how to act it out and have fun mimicking the actions together!
