Objective

By the end of this lesson, Nate will have a better understanding of Denmark's culture, geography, history, and famous landmarks. He will also create a fun project that showcases what he learned about this fascinating country.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and colored pencils or markers

  • Notebook for taking notes
  • Map of Denmark (can be printed from the internet)
  • Scissors and glue (if doing a collage project)

Before the lesson, make sure to have a quiet space for Nate to work and access to a computer or tablet for research. It might help to have some Danish music ready to play in the background to set the mood!

Activities

  • Research and Create a Fact Sheet:

    Nate will research interesting facts about Denmark, such as its capital city, famous landmarks, and cultural traditions. He will compile this information into a colorful fact sheet.

  • Map Exploration:

    Nate will use a map of Denmark to locate key cities, rivers, and geographical features. He can color in the map and label important locations.

  • Danish Cuisine Tasting:

    If possible, Nate can try making a simple Danish dish or snack, like Danish pastries or open-faced sandwiches. He can document his cooking experience with photos and notes.

  • Create a Denmark Collage:

    Nate can gather images and information about Denmark from magazines or printouts to create a collage that represents what he has learned.
