Objective

By the end of this lesson, Janvier will enjoy tummy time while developing essential motor skills, strengthening neck and shoulder muscles, and enhancing sensory experiences through playful interactions.

Materials and Prep

  • No specific materials are needed for this lesson, just a safe and comfortable space for tummy time.
  • Ensure the area is free from any hazards and has a soft surface, like a blanket or carpet.
  • Be prepared to engage with Janvier through playful interaction and encouragement.

Activities

  • Tummy Time Exploration:

Place Janvier on their tummy on a soft surface. Encourage them to lift their head and look around. Make funny faces or sounds to capture their attention and motivate them to look up.

  • Mirror Play:

While Janvier is on their tummy, hold a mirror in front of them. Encourage them to look at their reflection and make silly faces. This will help them engage and strengthen their neck muscles.

  • Colorful Hand Movements:

Sit in front of Janvier and wave your hands in the air with colorful movements. Encourage them to follow your hands with their eyes and try to reach out. This will stimulate their visual tracking skills.

  • Sound Exploration:

Make different sounds, such as clapping your hands or shaking your body gently. Encourage Janvier to turn their head towards the sounds, promoting auditory development.

Talking Points

  • "Look at you! You're so strong! Can you lift your head up? Wow!"
  • "Who is that in the mirror? It's you! You're so cute!"
  • "Can you see my hands? Let's wave them! Can you reach for them?"
