Objective
By the end of this lesson, ALEF will be able to identify major internal organs and understand where they are located in the body. ALEF will also learn how to describe where something hurts by using the names of these organs.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- A comfortable space to sit and learn
- A simple drawing of a human body (can be drawn by ALEF or you can guide ALEF to draw one)
Before the lesson, ensure that ALEF is comfortable and ready to learn. You may want to briefly explain what internal organs are and why they are important for our bodies.
Activities
-
Draw Your Body:
Start by drawing a simple outline of a human body. ALEF can then color in the organs using different colors for each organ. This will help ALEF visualize where each organ is located.
-
Organ Matching Game:
Create a matching game where ALEF can match pictures of organs to their names. You can call out the name of an organ, and ALEF can find the correct picture.
-
Where Does It Hurt?
Play a game where you pretend to have pain in different organs. ALEF can ask questions to figure out where it hurts and practice using the names of the organs.
Talking Points
- "Our body is like a busy city, and the organs are the important buildings that help us live!"
- "Can you name some organs? What do you think the heart does?"
- "If I say my stomach hurts, where do you think I am pointing to?"
- "The lungs help us breathe! Can you take a deep breath with me?"
- "The brain is like the boss of the body! It tells all the other organs what to do!"
- "Remember, if something hurts, we can tell someone by saying the name of the organ that hurts!"
