- Paper
- Pencil or crayons
- Space to move around for activities
- Optional: a comfortable spot for reading aloud
Before the lesson, ensure the student is familiar with the basics of nursery rhymes and their rhythmic patterns. It may be helpful to read a few other nursery rhymes beforehand to set the stage.
Activities
-
Recitation Practice
Begin by reading "Baa Baa Black Sheep" together. Then, practice reciting it several times, focusing on rhythm and expression. Encourage the student to memorize the rhyme.
-
Illustration Creation
Have the student draw their interpretation of the sheep, the farmer, and the bags of wool. Ask them to think about what colors and shapes represent each character.
-
Role Play
Engage in a fun role-playing activity where the student can act out the roles of the sheep and the farmer. This can help them understand the dynamics of the story.
-
Wool Bag Craft
Using paper, have the student create their own "wool bags" by cutting out shapes and decorating them. They can pretend to fill these bags with wool as they recite the rhyme.
