Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to engage in physical activities outside and understand the importance of staying active for your health.
Materials and Prep
- Open outdoor space
- Comfortable clothing and shoes
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a safe and open outdoor space to conduct the activities. Dress appropriately for physical activities and don't forget to stay hydrated and protected from the sun by wearing sunscreen.
Activities
- Warm-up exercises: Start by stretching your arms, legs, and neck. Reach up to the sky and touch your toes. Do this for 5 minutes to warm up your muscles.
- Obstacle course: Set up a simple obstacle course using cones, hula hoops, or any other objects you can find. Create challenges like crawling under a table, jumping over a line, or hopping on one foot. Complete the course three times.
- Scavenger hunt: Create a list of nature items for the scavenger hunt, such as a leaf, a rock, a flower, and a stick. Explore your outdoor area and find each item on the list. Take your time and observe the nature around you.
- Balloon toss: Blow up a balloon and play a game of balloon toss. Stand a few feet apart and gently toss the balloon to each other. Try to keep it in the air without letting it touch the ground.
- Cool-down and reflection: After all the activities, take a few minutes to cool down. Slowly walk around and take deep breaths. Once you're calm, sit down and reflect on how your body feels and what you enjoyed most about being active outside.
