Objective
By the end of this lesson, Daniella and Alisia will be able to write a simple book review. They will learn how to express their thoughts about a book, what they liked or didn't like, and share their opinions in a fun and creative way.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencils for writing
- Crayons or markers for illustration
- A few books that they have read recently or are currently reading
- Knowledge of basic story elements (characters, setting, plot)
Activities
- Book Discussion: Start by discussing the books they have read. Ask them to share their favorite parts and characters. This will help them think about their opinions.
- Review Template Creation: Help them create a simple template for their book review. Include sections like "Title," "Author," "Favorite Character," and "What I Liked/Didn’t Like."
- Writing Time: Let them write their book reviews using the template. Encourage them to be creative and use their own words.
- Illustration: After writing, ask them to draw a picture related to the book. This could be their favorite character or a scene from the story.
- Sharing Reviews: Finally, have Daniella and Alisia share their book reviews with each other. They can read them aloud and show their illustrations.
