Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will learn the importance of quiet time, discover different ways to enjoy solitude, and develop personal relaxation techniques that can be used daily.
Materials and Prep
- Comfortable seating area (like a chair or a cozy corner)
- Journal or paper for writing
- Pens or colored pencils
- A timer (optional, for time management)
- Quiet music or nature sounds (optional)
Before the lesson, prepare a calm space where the student can feel relaxed and undisturbed. Ensure that the area is free from distractions like phones or loud noises.
Activities
-
Mindful Breathing
Start with a 5-minute mindful breathing exercise. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and take deep breaths in and out. Focus on the breath and let any distractions fade away.
-
Creative Journaling
Encourage the student to write or draw in their journal about what quiet time means to them. They can illustrate their feelings or write a short story about a peaceful place.
-
Nature Observation
If possible, spend some time outside in a quiet area. Encourage the student to observe their surroundings, listen to the sounds of nature, and take notes or sketches about what they see and hear.
-
Quiet Time Challenge
Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and challenge the student to sit quietly without any distractions. They can think, meditate, or simply enjoy the silence. Afterward, discuss how they felt during the quiet time.
