Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will create a festive Christmas-themed art piece using simple materials and will learn about the colors, shapes, and symbols associated with Christmas.
Materials and Prep
- Colored paper (red, green, white, and yellow)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Crayons or markers
- A pencil
Make sure to have a clean workspace ready and all materials accessible. You might want to prepare a few examples of Christmas art to inspire the student!
Activities
-
Christmas Tree Collage:
Using the colored paper, the student will cut out shapes to create a Christmas tree. They can use green for the tree, and add decorations using red and yellow paper. Encourage them to be creative with their designs!
-
Holiday Card Making:
The student will create a Christmas card for a family member or friend. They can fold a piece of paper, draw festive images, and write a short message inside. This will help them practice writing and expressing their feelings!
-
Christmas Ornament Design:
Using the colored paper, the student can design their own ornaments. They can cut out circles or stars and decorate them with crayons or markers. Once finished, they can hang them around the house!
