Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and understand key vocabulary related to motocross, as well as develop listening and comprehension skills through engaging activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Pictures or illustrations of motocross bikes and riders
  • Printed motocross-themed flashcards with words and corresponding images
  • Blank paper and crayons/markers
  • Motocross-themed storybook or short reading passage

Activities

  1. Introduction: Show pictures or illustrations of motocross bikes and riders, and ask the toddler if they know what they are. Explain that motocross is a type of sport where riders race on special motorcycles on dirt tracks.
  2. Motocross Vocabulary: Use the printed flashcards to introduce and teach motocross-related words such as "motorcycle," "helmet," "race," "jump," "dirt track," etc. Show the flashcards one by one, say the word aloud, and have the toddler repeat after you.
  3. Story Time: Read a motocross-themed storybook or short reading passage to the toddler. Pause occasionally to ask questions about the story, characters, or events to check their listening comprehension.
  4. Drawing Activity: Provide the toddler with blank paper and crayons/markers. Ask them to draw a motocross bike or a motocross rider. Encourage them to use their imagination and creativity.
