Objective

By the end of this lesson, Belinda will have a deeper understanding of various landscapes and landforms, including mountains, valleys, plateaus, and plains. She will be able to identify these features on a map and describe their characteristics and significance in the environment.

Materials and Prep

Before the lesson, it would be helpful for Belinda to have a basic understanding of geography terms like "landform," "landscape," "topography," and "ecosystem." This will make the activities more engaging and informative.

Activities

  • Map Exploration:

    Belinda will take a look at a world map and identify different landforms. She can mark where mountains, valleys, plains, and plateaus are located and write a brief description of each.

  • Create a Landscape Collage:

    Using paper and colored pencils, Belinda will create a collage that represents different landscapes. She can include elements like mountains, rivers, forests, and deserts, and label each part of her collage.

  • Landform Diorama:

    Belinda can create a small diorama of a specific landform using household items. For example, she could use a shoebox to represent a valley and use sand, rocks, and paper to create the landscape.
